Patriots: Brown finally feeling back up to speed
News
Wide receiver Troy Brown hasn't favored his right knee this spring, and that's
a relieving sign for the Patriots, the Boston Herald reported. Brown injured
the knee in week three of 2002, and he was never quite himself for the rest
of the season. "Yeah, running around without a limp. It definitely feels
good," said Brown on Friday. "It's been a while since I've done that,
so I'm beginning to feel a little like my old self." Brown played through
the injury for most of the season, but that does not mean he was 100 percent.
"It was just one of those things where you tried to feel better week-to-week
and it just didn't happen," he explained. "It didn't heal as fast
as I thought it would. You're limited. It definitely affected me." Brown's
9.2 yards-per-reception ranked last among starting NFL wide receivers.

Troy still managed to pull down 97 receptions, but that total masked what was
often obvious while watching games. Br! own lacked some of his usual shiftiness
and speed. If he can stay healthy this season, Brown could easily reach back
into the 100-reception plateau. And may, just maybe, Troy can turn a few more
of those catches into touchdowns. NFL Tickets
