Redskins promote Cerrato to vice president of operations
Vinny Cerrato, who rejoined the Washington Redskins last season after spending a year with ESPN as an analyst, was promoted to vice president of football operations Tuesday.
Cerrato, 43, originally joined the Redskins in 1999 after a nine-year tenure with the San Francisco 49ers. Last season, he was the Redskins' director of player personnel.
Cerrato replaces Joe Mendes, who was dismissed by the Redskins after nine years in the organization. NFL Tickets
Prior to joining the 49ers, Cerrato spent five seasons as Lou Holtz's recruiting coordinator at Notre Dame.
