Crouch tries hand at kickoff returns for Packers
Eric Crouch thinks he's contender for one of Green Bay's three quarterback spots next season.
Yet the 2001 Heisman Trophy winner from Nebraska is willing play a different position in his pursuit of a regular NFL job, so he tried his hand at kickoff returns for the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday.
``It's crazy,''
Crouch conceded after taking a handful of kicks following the minicamp practice.
``A lot of quarterbacks aren't really willing to do that and get out there and
catch (punts or kicks) and run. It's something I feel comfortable with.''
Crouch returned kickoffs for the St. Louis Rams in the preseason last year,
but he left the team shortly thereafter because he wasn't comfortable making
the transition from quarterback to wide receiver and return specialist. NFL

The Packers coaxed Crouch out of retirement this spring by giving him a chance to play quarterback again. But his best chance to make the team might be as a kick returner. NFL Tickets
He last returned punts as a junior in high school.
