You just knew it was too good to be true, didn’t you? You muttered “oh, what the heck” when you drafted Anthony Thomas back in August because he was the only running back with a pulse left on the board. As it turned out, your flyer paid off the past three weeks as, out of nowhere, Thomas turned back the clock to 2001 and started running like a worthwhile fantasy back again.
Somehow, given how bad this year’s version of the Bears is, you knew it wouldn’t last.
The word from their Halas Hall headquarters on Wednesday is that Thomas suffered a sprained foot during their week six loss to the Saints and is listed as doubtful on the injury report for this week’s tilt against the Seahawks. That means, as of Wednesday, there is only a 25 percent chance he’ll play.
Train would have been a pretty good play this week, too. He’s rushed for
329 yards over the past three weeks and the Seahawks haven’t exactly been
stopping anyone on the ground. NFL Tickets
Witness what the Packers did to the 'Hawks two weeks ago when they churned out 159 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns, or what the 49ers did to them last week when they had 111 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Fantasy players need to assume Thomas won’t play and make other arrangements for their lineup. You could consider picking up Adrian Peterson and using him against the Seahawks…of course you could also volunteer to be a guinea pig for your dentist who’s come up with a new, Novocain-free form of root canal surgery.
In other words, our faith in Peterson is a little shaky, especially considering that Kordell Stewart (leg) and Marty Booker (ankle) are also uncertain to play this week. NFL Tickets
About the only Bears player we can endorse using with a straight face this week is kicker Paul Edinger.
